Welcome to the District 7620 Toolbox. If you have a point of view about things that have worked well in Rotary, or lessons learned from things that didn’t go as well as you planned, your fellow Rotarians would love to hear from you. Your ideas, or points of view, or “tools,” just might be the start of a great conversation between you and a Rotarian that that could save you both countless hours of wasted time and energy.

Our District Toolbox is different from District “best practices” because we don’t believe there is a way to determine what “the best practices” are in Rotary. Instead, we like to think of your Rotary experiences as tools that we can use to fix or improve things in our Clubs. It is our way of acknowledging that each Club and each Rotarian has a unique perspective as to how to best accomplish the things that we do as Rotarians, without making a value judgment as to what constitutes the “best” ideas or the best practices in the District. We encourage you to share. Don’t worry about whether your ideas are good enough to add to the toolbox. If you feel strongly about an idea or a point of view regarding something that has worked, or something that hasn’t worked, that’s good enough for us. You will find that the toolbox is already full of great tools or ideas from many different Rotarians regarding many different aspects of Rotary. Think of adding your idea or new tool as “payment” for using someone else’s tool. It’s kind of like putting your tools back in the toolbox where they belong.

Please don’t feel like you need to write volumes about your toolbox ideas. We don’t need all of the details. Just give your fellow Rotarians the “bottom line” about an experience that you want to share. A hundred words or so will be just fine. If someone wants to learn more about your toolbox idea, we hope you will feel flattered if they get in touch with you for more information. The Toolbox committee will review your submission to make sure it conforms to Rotary rules and procedures and they will also help to edit your submission if necessary so that it properly fits the Toolbox format. To find a Rotary tool that might be helpful to you, the process is simple. Just type in a key word and the search engine will rummage through the toolbox to find a tool that fits your needs. If you have questions about Leadership, Public Relations, Finance, Lanes of Service, Membership, and more, you will find that your peers have already added tools that might be of great interest to you. We are looking forward to our toolbox growing over the years so that all of the Rotarians in District 7620 have a fabulous resource that we can use when we need it.

Remember that our Toolbox is only as good as you make it. You are going to feel great when a Rotarian that you’ve never met contacts you to tell you that your idea was a life saver. And while you’re at it, you might feel just as good letting a fellow Rotarian know that the tool you pulled from the Toolbox helped you out as well. So get on to fixing things in your Club and in your community. After all, that’s what being a Rotarian is all about!
