Michael WilliamsMichael Williams aka “M-Dub” is a member of the Rotary Club of Warren County in Front Royal, Virginia. Recently “Semi-Retired” after 34 years in Public and Private Education, Michael has been a classroom teacher, athletic coach, bus driver, administrator and mentor for thousands of young people all over the World, over the years. For 22 consecutive years and full summers, Michael was the head counselor at Camp Alkulana (a camp for underserved children from Richmond, VA).

Michael, his wife Sherry, and their now 23-year-old son, Alan have served as a Rotary Youth Exchange family for students from Peru, Scotland and Brazil, and have been guardians for twelves different boys since 2017 from Vietnam, two of which (Dang Khoa and Minh Duc) currently reside with them. When Covid shut down R-MA / Randolph-Macon Academy (a predominantly boarding school in Front Royal), Michael and Sherry welcomed 8 international students into their home from March until June of 2020. Counting their son, Alan (who was a senior at R-MA at the time), this made 9 teenage boys to feed and care for – for 4 months!

Michael works tirelessly to promote Youth Activities in Rotary, his church and community. He has started three Early Act Clubs in his Warren County and helped reignite another; started two Middle School Interact Clubs, and a newly forming community-based high school Interact Club focused on monthly service projects. Through his efforts and leadership Warren County now has an active Early Act at all five of their Elementary Schools, and an Interact club in both Middle Schools. At E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School, the Early Act Club has grown from an initial 20 students, to over 150. Michael has helped start other Early Act clubs in D-7570 and other Districts, as well as our Zone. He is constantly on the go, ready to help any club anywhere, wishing to start an Early Act or Interact club.

Michael is a Major Donor, a Paul Harris Society Member, Benevolent and Bequest Society Member, Sustainer, Polio Plus Society Member, 110% winner and a recipient of District 7570’s Dave Mormon Memorial Encouraging Youth Award. In April 2024, Michael was honored by his home community with the Larry M. Funk Memorial Lifetime Service to Youth Award, for his 28 Years of continuing service to the youth of the Front Royal and Warren County community.

Currently, Michael serves his club and District 7570 as The Youth Services Chair (covering Early Act, Interact, RYLA, Rotary Youth Protection and Rotary Youth Exchange). Michael also serves on the Board of Directors for The Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Centre.

Michael’s hobbies include hanging out with his wife, Sherry, their 6 year old Havanese Puppy, “Miss Bella”, All things family, visiting wineries and distilleries, College Baseball (Michael is a former catcher), serving his family, church, Rotary, 4-H and community wherever asked and needed, and (when it’s time to collapse on the couch!) watching Jeopardy, Gunsmoke, Wagon Train and Bonanza.
